Explore a botanic garden, whether in a capital city or a country town in any special place in the world, and discover the unique and ever changing features of the garden. Winning photos will be those that show what makes your botanic garden special to you, not necessarily technically brilliant photos. Your photographs will capture the living essence of your favourite botanic garden – in fact, what makes this place unique and wonderful to YOU.
Gardens in Focus aims to promote new perspectives on the world's botanic gardens. It will record for posterity the look, feel and focus of botanic gardens around the world.
Australia's Most Treasured Botanic Garden
We're looking for Australia's most treasured botanic garden. Every photo you enter counts as one vote for your favourite botanic garden. The botanic garden having the greatest number of photos entered in this competition will receive a special award as the Gardens in Focus MOST TREASURED BOTANIC GARDEN in Australia*.
This garden will receive a handsome certificate and acclaim within the bounds of this competition and the ensuing photography exhibition.
2011 entries have closed. While we wait for the judges to do their work, enjoy this video of last year's winners and finalists.
2010 Finalists - Enjoy!
* Recognition of the most treasured botanic garden is restricted to botanic gardens located within Australia. Photographs taken in international botanic gardens are fully eligible for all competition prizes for the photographer, but will exclude this award to the garden. Please note that a botanic garden is defined in this competition as any location with the words "botanic" or "botanical" in its title or name.
